According to a press release issued by the Danish Ministry of Environment, the ban on phthalates will be delayed from December 2013 to 2015
.
Danish Environment Minister Pia Olsen Dhyr acknowledged that four phthalates (DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP) are more common than expected and that it is impossible for manufacturers to phase them out within the planned timeframe
.
In dialogue with the Danish Ministry of the Environment, industry agreed to actively support the EU ban on the four phthalates and to prepare guidelines to better guide consumers to avoid products containing phthalates and to label
products that do not contain phthalates.
