Evonik's latest SILIKOPHEN AC 950 high-temperature resistant and high-solid silicone resin is designed to protect industrial equipment without harmful air pollutants (HAPS
).
SILIKOPHEN AC 950 does not release toxic substances during the curing process and can therefore be applied
in enclosed spaces.
Compared to conventional baked silicone resins, the potential for smoke formation and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are greatly reduced, which can meet the growing demand
for environmentally friendly coating systems.
They can be cured at room temperature with the use of a catalyst and offer many additional advantages
.
The application showed that the product had early resistance to aromatic and aliphatic solvents and good
impact and anti-blocking properties before curing by baking.
Kirstin Schulz, Marketing Director Industrial Coatings at Evonik's Coatings Additives business line, says: "High-temperature drying with ovens has its natural drawbacks, and our room temperature curing systems can be used to paint large industrial equipment used in water treatment or power plants
.
Compared to classic bake-curing systems, room temperature curing systems consume less energy and are therefore an easy-to-use and more economical solution
for high-temperature coatings.
