Bayer will be presenting its material solutions that respond to megatrends at Fakuma at the Fakuma German plastics industry exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany, on October 14~18, including the latest research developments for the automotive industry and the LED lighting industry, as well as new production processes
.
Bayer MaterialScience focused on material solutions for the LED lighting industry, including focusing lenses, optical fibers, diffusers and light guides, reflectors and thermally conductive housing components
made of polycarbonate resins, films and sheets from the company.
This opens up excellent avenues
for the application of polycarbonate and for semi-finished films and sheets made from this polymer.
Another focus of Bayer's exhibition will be the development of
automotive applications.
Bayer MaterialScience has developed a complete material concept for automotive interiors, and at the exhibition Bayer will present everything from matte, textured and high-gloss structures, coated and metallized surfaces, attractive colors, to display designs
with three-dimensional surfaces.
The DirectCoating/Direct Skinning technology, jointly developed by Bayer MaterialScience, enables decorative parts to be fabricated in a single step, using Bayer polycarbonate materials that require only one master mold to create a complete decorative variant, facilitating individual design
for small batch production.
In addition, Bayer MaterialScience has developed customized polyurethane materials Desmosint for selective laser sintering, supporting rapid prototyping and the establishment of low-volume production processes
.
By coating layer by layer, laser sintering can even produce complex parts with cavities and inverted concaves, which
was not possible with past injection molding processes.
