The use of PFOS in consumer products is prohibited in Norway
Recently, the Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency revised the consumer goods regulations to prohibit the use of perfluorooctanoic acid
in consumer products.
From 1 June 2014, Norway will ban the production, sale and import and export of solid and liquid consumer goods and fabrics
containing perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctanoates and esters.
The limits for different products are: the content of perfluorooctanoic acid in the mixture cannot exceed 0.
001%, the content of perfluorooctanoic acid in fabrics cannot exceed 1 microgram per square meter, and the content of perfluorooctanoic acid in durable goods components cannot exceed 0.
1%.
The ban does not apply to food packaging, food contact materials, and medical facilities
.
In addition, the ban will be extended from January 1, 2016 to semiconductor adhesives, foils or tapes, and photosensitive coatings
for film, paper or screens.
