On July 22, the Council of the European Union published a draft text of the European Commission restricting the content of nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE)
in textile products on the EU market.
The EU will adopt this legislation
as soon as possible.

NPE will not be used in
textiles for 60 months after the entry into force of the regulation.
This restriction applies to textile products
that need to be washed with water during the normal product cycle.
The NPE concentration shall not be equal to or exceed 0.
01%
of textile products or their components by weight.
The above restrictions do not apply to second-hand textile products in the market or new textile products
made only from recycled textiles.
