INEOS builds ethane cracking and PDH plant
in Belgium Ineos recently said it plans to build a new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant and an ethane cracker
in the port of Antwerp, Belgium.
With an investment of $3.
4 billion, the installation is the largest investment
ever made by INEOS.
The plant converts propane and ethane into propylene and ethylene for use as raw materials
for chemical products in various industries.
The new unit will be built at INEOS' existing base and will be piped to a number of INEOS ethylene and propylene derivatives installations
in the region.
Jim Ratcliffe, CEO and Chairman of INEOS, said: "Our investment in a world-class ethane cracking and PDH plant is the largest of its kind in Europe in more than a generation
.
Therefore, this is a major development
for the European petrochemical industry.
