The EU intends to relax the maximum residue limit for ibuprofen in stems
On 1 July 2014, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued an opinion
on the relaxation of the maximum residue limit (MRL) for ibuprofen in stems.
Pursuant to Chapter 6 of European Commission Regulation (EC) No.
396/2005, Germany has received an application from Bayer CropScience to amend the MRL
of ibuprofen in stems.
In order to harmonize the maximum residue limit (MRL) for ibuprofen, Germany proposes to revise
its MRL.
In accordance with Chapter 8 of Commission Regulation (EC) No.
396/2005, an assessment report was drafted and submitted to the European Commission and then forwarded to the European Food Safety Authority
.
After reviewing the assessment report, the European Food Safety Authority decided to relax the ibuprofen MRL in the stem fruit from 0.
02 mg/kg to 3 mg/kg
