DSM launches EcoPaXX green insulation
DSM has announced the launch of Bio-based polyamide under the EcoPaXX brand, which enables manufacturers of aluminium window systems to produce more sustainable products
.
About 70% of EcoPaXX's main ingredients come from a renewable resource – castor oil
.
This means that the CO2 absorbed during the growth of castor beans completely offsets
the CO2 released during the production of chemical polymers.
As a result, EcoPaXX is completely carbon neutral throughout the entire product life cycle and meets the huge demand
for sustainable raw materials in buildings.
In addition to its environmental friendliness, EcoPaXX offers many advantages
over other engineering plastics in insulating profiles.
With a melting point of up to 250°C, EcoPaXX enables the entire powder coating to be applied once the aluminum frame is fully mounted, helping to significantly simplify the machining process
.
In addition, EcoPaXX has excellent hydrolysis and chemical resistance, and its moisture absorption is much lower than nylon 66
.
Window profiles made of EcoPaXX fully comply with the strict requirements
of EN14024 for the mechanical properties of metal insulation profiles.
Caroline Mitterlehner, Global Construction Marketing Manager at DSM, said: "For the industry leader in aluminium windows with a focus on innovation, products should not only demonstrate sustainability in their use, but also meet sustainable standards
in their raw materials.
The use of materials such as EcoPaXX can not only improve the energy efficiency of buildings, but also help promote the development of
sustainable industrial chains.
