Recently, the US state of Vermont revised its regulations
on flame retardants.
Compared to the original regulation, new restrictions
have been added for the flame retardants tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) and (1,3-dichloroisopropyl) phosphate (TDCPP).
The new regulations state that as of January 1, 2014, no person other than retailers may manufacture, offer, or sell children's articles or home décor items containing more than 0.
1% by weight of TCEP or TDCPP in Vermont; Effective July 1, 2014, any retailer is required to stop selling or offering children's products or residential decoration furniture
containing TCEP or TDCPP content exceeding 0.
1% by weight.
In addition, the new regulations stipulate that from July 1, 2013, manufacturers of the above-mentioned products containing TCEP or TDCPP are required to notify the person who sells the product; From July 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014, any person other than a retailer who manufactures, distributes, or sells the above products containing TCEP or TDCPP in the State shall notify downstream sellers by sending the notification by email and informing them of the amount
of TCEP or TDCPP contained therein.
