Japan's Suiko recently used BASF Tinuvin® light stabilizer to manufacture linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) rotational molding slides
with anti-ultraviolet and antistatic properties for children's playgrounds.
Linear low-density polyethylene slides in playgrounds are prone to UV degradation, resulting in discoloration and physical
degradation of the slides.
To solve this problem, Suiko added BASF's Tinuvin® light stabilizer to the polymer resin of the slides to make them UV stable and ensure that the slides will remain bright and colorful
for years to come.
Hermann Althoff, Senior Vice President of BASF's Performance Chemicals business unit Asia Pacific, said: "Safety is an important factor for us to consider when manufacturing children's products, and playground facilities are no exception
.
By using standard UV inhibitors such as BASF's light stabilizers, outdoor play manufacturers are able to create products
that last longer.
