Clariant will provide freeN2Oreduction catalysts to 10 nitric acid producers
2On November 24, Clariant announced a major global initiative to provide free of charge its EnviCat N2O-S catalyst, based on decades of catalyst research experience, to 10 nitric acid producers without nitrous oxide (N2O) waste gas treatment measures to reduce the impact
ofN2Oon climate change.
It is understood that more than half of the about 500 nitric acid plants operating around the world do not haveN2Oemission reduction measures, and most of them are located in areas without
applicable emission control regulations.
EnviCat N2O-S catalysts have been proven to remove 95%
of the by-productN2O.
Clariant said it hopes to help avoid greenhouse gas emissions
equivalent to millions of tons ofCO2 each year.
