Shell plans to reduce the number of refineries
Recently, Shell said it plans to reduce the number of its refineries from 14 to 6 by 2025
.
The six remaining refineries are located in Deer Park, Texas, USA, Norco, Louisiana, Nice, Netherlands, Bukon Island in Singapore, Rhineland, Germany, and Scottford
, Canada.
Shell CEO Van Beurden said the refineries would be chemically integrated and increasingly integrated with low-carbon fuels such as biofuels, hydrogen fuels and synthetic fuels
.
Curtis Smith, a spokesman for Shell, said that for the other eight refineries, Shell was already in the process of being divested, either converting them to terminals or shutting them down
.
The other eight refineries include the refinery in Frederica, Denmark, the Puget Sound refinery in Washington, United States, the Mobile refinery in Alabama, USA, the Convent refinery in Louisiana, USA, and the Sarnia refinery
in Ontario, Canada.
