Indian Oil Corporation will build India's first major maleic anhydride plant
Recently, the board of directors of Indian Oil Corporation has approved the construction of India's first large-scale maleic anhydride plant in its Panipat refinery and oil complex (PRPC) to produce high value-added chemical products
.
With a total investment of Rs.
3,681 crore, the project will be completed and put into operation
within 54 months from the approval of the first phase of investment.
The project plans to produce 120,000 mt of maleic anhydride (MAH) per year for specialty products such as polyester resins, surface coatings, plasticizers, agrochemicals and lubricant additives, in addition to 20,000 mt/year of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) for the production of polyurethane, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), and another high value-added chemical, tetrahydrofuran (THF), to accelerate the growth of
the pharmaceutical industry.
