Nippon Shokubai announced that it will expand the acrylic acid production capacity of its plant in Cilegon City, Banten Province, Indonesia, from the current 140,000 tons to 240,000 tons, with an investment of about 200 million US dollars
.
The new production line is expected to be completed by the end of March 2021, with commercial operations
starting in November of that year.
The produced acrylic acid will be exported
to Asian countries including Japan.
After the new production line is put into operation, the annual production capacity of acrylic acid of Japan Catalyst Group will be expanded to 980,000 tons, including 540,000 tons in Japan and 440,000 tons
in overseas projects.
