The new PBT compound replaces the halogen-containing flame retardant
LANXESS's Pocan BFN glass fiber reinforced compound, making halogen-free flame retardants (polybutylene terephthalate) an alternative
.
The product exhibits better electrical properties, thermal stability and UV stability
.
Its mechanical properties are only slightly inferior to halogen-based flame retardants, which can be achieved by glass fiber reinforcement
.
As a follow-up development of Pocan DP BFN 4230, its glass fiber content is between 13%~25%, and it is used to manufacture connectors for electrical equipment and housings for AC tube drives
.
In addition to being used in conventional electrical equipment, the electrical properties of the new PBT compounds also make them have great potential in the field of solar photovoltaics
.
Another advantage of the new PBT material is its resistance to heat aging at high temperatures
.
After ultraviolet irradiation and heat aging, the material has good long-term heat resistance in air and can achieve high color stability, which is comparable to halogen-based flame retardant products, making it ideal for
applications such as LED housing manufacturing.
The material has been specifically designed to ensure a wider processing range and stable processing process
during injection molding.
The shrinkage properties of the product are similar to flame-retardant grades of PBT made from halogen-containing compounds, allowing them to be processed
in the same mold.
Product density can be reduced by up to 8%, thus improving the price-performance ratio
by reducing the use of materials.
