On June 4, 2015, the European Union published Commission Authorization Directive (EU) 2015/863 (completed on March 31, 2015) in the Official Journal amending Annex II of the RoHS II
Directive (2011/65/EU) on the list of restricted substances.
The Directive enters into force
20 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Member States shall approve and issue laws, regulations and administrative provisions complying with the Directive by 31 December 2016 at the latest, which shall come into force
on 22 July 2019.
The restricted substances mentioned and the maximum allowable concentrations by weight in homogeneous materials are: lead (0.
1%), mercury (0.
1%), cadmium (0.
01%), hexavalent chromium (0.
1%), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0.
1%), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) (0.
1%), bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0.
1%), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) (0.
1%), dibutyl phthalate ( DBP) (0.
1%), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0.
1%)

From July 22, 2021, the restrictions on DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP apply to medical devices (including in vitro medical devices) and monitoring and control instruments (including industrial monitoring and control instruments).
