WACKER has developed modular systems for casting silicone rubber

Wacker has developed a modular system under the brand name ELASTOSIL VARIO for the production of pourable addition-curable silicone rubbers for the potting of electronic components and circuits and the coating of engineered fabrics, metals or plastics, as well as silicone moldings, models and molds
.

ELASTOSIL VARIO is an addition-cured RTV-2 silicone rubber consisting of two components consisting of four parts, two different basic components and two different catalyst components
.
Among them, the mixing ratio of the two basic components determines the hardness
of the vulcanized rubber.
Vulcanized rubber can obtain a hardness
of 15 to 40 on the Shore A grade.
Regardless of the mixing ratio of the base components, vulcanizates always have extremely high tensile and tear strength
.
The mixing ratio of the two catalysts determines the reactivity of the system, i.
e.
the vulcanization rate of silicone rubber, and the effective use time can be adjusted arbitrarily between a few minutes and more than two hours, and the curing time is between
15 minutes and 7 hours.
In addition, the system is a translucent substance that can be colored
at will.

The two self-mixable components can be processed
without pressure in the pouring process manually or with the help of two-component mixing and metering equipment.
With these system components, silicone processing manufacturers can mix
the two RTV-2 silicone rubber components required for crosslinking themselves.
Depending on the application, silicone compounders and silicone processing manufacturers can flexibly adjust
their silicone rubber systems by adjusting the mixing ratio of the basic components and catalysts.
