Idemitsu Kosan will no longer produce solar cells

Recently, Idemitsu Kosan announced that its subsidiary solar panel manufacturer Solar Frontier will withdraw from the production of
solar panels.
By June 2022, the company's Kunifu solar panel production plant in Miyazaki Prefecture will officially cease production
.

The annual production capacity of solar panels at the Guofu plant is about 6 million pieces
.
After the plant is shut down, the required panels will be purchased
from overseas panel manufacturers such as China.
Solar Frontier began commercial production of solar panels
in 2007.
Built in 2011, Guofu Factory was one of
the largest solar panel manufacturers in the world at the time.

In the future, Solar Frontier will focus on the design/procurement/construction (EPC) and operation/maintenance (O&M)
of photovoltaic power plants.
In addition, the company will promote the development of next-generation solar cells that can be used in communication drones and strengthen the solar panel recycling business
at the Guofu plant.
