On October 23, Linde announced that the company would recently close a merger deal
with Praxair.
The combined company will retain Linde's name and become the world's largest industrial gases company, serving more than 2 million customers in 100 countries with a total market capitalization of approximately $90 billion
.
Linde will sell its seven hydrogen plants in the U.
S.
and complete divestitures
by January 29, 2019.
Wolfgang Reitzler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Linde
, will chair the board of directors of the new holding company.
Praxair Chairman and CEO Steve Angel, who will serve as Linde's CEO, will also become a board member
of the new holding company.
The other six executive members will be represented by Linde and Praxair
.
Linde and Praxair are temporarily obligated to continue to operate globally as independent companies and not to engage in any business cooperation
until the divestiture is completed.
