BASF has launched Ultrason?E
, the world's first PESU-based particle foam.
Ultrason?E is an amorphous thermoplastic with a unique temperature signature that maintains dimensional stability
at glass transition temperatures of up to 225°C.
The foam has a unique combination of properties: high temperature resistance, inherent flame retardancy, extreme lightweight, high hardness, high strength
.
The material is pre-foamed into particles with a density as low as 40~120g/L, which can be processed into molded parts
with complex three-dimensional geometry through the existing technology on the market.
Foamed molded parts have considerable flexibility in density and shape, which can meet greater design freedom; Less processing steps, lower system cost; Recycling is simpler
.
This makes it particularly suitable for the manufacture of complex interior parts
of automobiles, airplanes and trains.
Currently, foam made of Ultrason® E has been approved for the production of
aircraft components.
