On October 17, Clariant announced a long-term supply contract with Ineos to supply catalysts and heating materials
for its proposed propane dehydrogenation plant (PDH), Europe's largest propane dehydrogenation plant.
The plant will be completed in 2023 with an annual design capacity of 750,000 tons
of propylene.
Clariant will advance the project with its process partner McDermott, which has an exclusive license for
the propane dehydrogenation technology of Lummus USA.
Stephen Situ, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Clariant's Catalysts business unit, said that CATOFIN technology and catalysts are the best solutions to the growing global demand for propylene.
The solution enables operation at optimal reactor pressures and temperatures, maximizing conversion and selectivity for propane to propylene while reducing investment and operating costs; Clariant's heat-generating materials are designed to generate heat and facilitate dehydrogenation reactions to further increase yield, save energy and reduce emissions, enhancing the performance advantages
of CATOFIN technology and catalysts.
