Evonik opens three DL-methionine business production centers

On October 14, Evonik announced the consolidation of its DL-methionine production resources into three international production centers (Americas, Europe and Asia) in order to maximize economies of scale using robust production processes
.

To this end, Evonik will close its smallest DL-methionine plant in Wetherling, Germany, in the first quarter of 2021 with an annual capacity of 65,000 metric tons
.
In addition, Evonik plans to invest EUR 25 million to upgrade its Wesserling methionine intermediate plant to guarantee long-term supply at the Antwerp plant and to strengthen the integrated DL-methionine production capacity
in Europe.

With an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, the Singapore site is Evonik's world's largest methionine production plant and a new industry benchmark
for efficient, safe and sustainable operations.
In addition to Singapore, Evonik has DL-methionine production sites
in Mobile, Alabama, USA and Antwerp, Belgium.
