On October 6, Borealis announced that it will invest 1 billion euros in a new "world-class" propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant
in Antevec, Belgium.
The PDH plant will be built at Borealis' existing production site in Kalo, Antwerp, with a current capacity of 750,000 tons, scheduled to start up
in the second half of 2022.
The new unit will feature Honeywell UOP's Oleflex technology
.
The hydrogen produced during the dehydrogenation process will be sold to Air Liquide
.
Alfred Stern, CEO of Borealis, said: "This significant investment in our European assets fully supports our strategy
to become a leading supplier of polypropylene solutions and a supplier to polypropylene to European customers.
