WACKER announced that it will expand its polymer binder line at its Ulsan site in South Korea, with the new line
for dispersions and dispersible polymer powders in South Korea.
These include the construction of a new spray drying plant for dispersible polymer powders with an annual capacity of 80,000 tons and a VAE-based emulsion reactor
.
The emulsion produced by the new reactor line will be supplied as a raw material to the spray drying plant for the production of dispersible polymer powders
.
This expansion will more than
double the VAE dispersion capacity at the Ulsan site.
Around EUR 60 million will be invested in the project to expand production capacity and infrastructure
at the site.
The expansion is scheduled to start by the end of this year and be completed in the first quarter of 2019
.
Rudolf Staudig, President and CEO of WACKER, said: "The expansion of the polymer binder line in Ulsan is an important step
in our global growth strategy.
This will further strengthen WACKER's position as the world's leading producer of dispersions and dispersible polymer powders, enabling the company to better meet the growing demand of customers in
Asia in the long term.
