The United States publishes Phase III motor vehicle emissions and fuel standards
On April 28, the U.
S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule in the Federal Register that will introduce tougher motor vehicle emissions standards and lower gasoline sulfur standards
starting in 2017 to reduce the air quality and public health impacts of motor vehicles and fuels.
The emission standards announced this time adopt a step-by-step approach depending on the type of vehicle, and the approximate promotion period is from 2017 to 2025, and the effective life of the applicable standards is extended from 120,000 miles to 150,000 miles
.
The annual average of gasoline sulphur content does not exceed 10ppm from January 1, 2017, continuing the 80ppm refiner cap and 95ppm downstream cap
in Tier 2.
The final rule will take effect
on June 27, 2014.
