Cabot today announced the launch of CAB-O-SIL?CLARUSTM 3160 pyrogenic silica, a hydrophilic product
for liquid silicone rubber (LSR) applications.
The new pyrogenic silica meets stringent requirements for both high transparency and reinforcing properties, significantly improving the overall performance of
transparent silicone rubber.
At the same time, the product can also minimize fading caused by aging, and meet the higher product
quality of the customer base in the Asia-Pacific region.
CLARUS 3160 pyrogenic silica meets customer requirements for high-end transparent silicone rubber markets such as consumer products, medical and lighting, and strengthens Cabot's product portfolio
for this application.
Cabot has developed CLARUS 3160 pyrogenic silica to meet the demand
for high-performance additives in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly high specific surface area pyrogenic silica.
Compared to the 300 m2/g specific surface area product commonly found in the same application, this highly structured, high specific surface area product with a nominal 400 m2/g increases light transmittance by 10%, resulting in increased transparency and reduces yellowing after aging by up to 30%.
CLARUS 3160 pyrogenic silica is a local product family
designed for silicone rubber applications.
