SABIC and Clariant signed a memorandum of understanding on their intention to work with Saudi Basic Industries (SABIC) today announced that it is taking steps to operate parts of the Special Materials Division independently, including a
business transaction
currently under negotiation with Clariant.
The two companies have recently signed a memorandum of understanding
on this business cooperation.

The process of independent operation of SABIC's specialty business is expected to be completed
by the end of 2019.
At that time, if the deal with Clariant proceeds as scheduled, some of SABIC's specialty products business – unique ULTEMTM and NORYLTM brand resins, LNPTM compounds and copolymer product families – will be integrated with Clariant's additives and high-value masterbatches businesses as part of
Clariant's business.
