Eight substances are included in the third batch of REACH authorized substances
A few days ago, the European Commission passed a resolution to include 8 substances of very high concern in the list of
substances to be authorized by REACH.
To date, there are 22 substances on the list of authorized substances
in Annex 14 of REACH.
The eight substances added to the list of authorized substances are: ammonium dichromate, potassium chromate, acids produced from chromium trioxide and their oligomers (including chromic acid, dichromatic acid and chromatic acid oligomers), chromium trioxide, sodium chromate, sodium dichromate, and trichloroethylene
.
These 8 substances are carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive.
Substances included in the list of authorized substances are subject
to prohibitions when used in three forms: single substances, mixtures and articles added to articles within the European Union.
When imported articles contain these substances, their addition outside the EU is not subject to the authorization procedure, but in such cases the European Chemicals Agency is obliged to consider whether the imported articles containing these substances pose a hazard
to human health or the environment.
If there is a hazard, consideration should be given to whether it should be listed in Annex 17 of REACH and restricted
.
