Arkema acquires Ashland's performance adhesives business
Arkema announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire Ashland's performance adhesives business, saying that including pro forma adjustments, the business is expected to generate sales of $360 million this year, EBITDA of about $95 million and an EBITDA margin of more than 25%.
Ashland expects the total net proceeds from the sale to be about $1.
2 billion ~ $1.
3 billion, and the proceeds will be used to invest in the growth of its core business, optimize its balance sheet, and reward shareholders
.
According to Arkema, Ashland's performance adhesives, combined with sustainable and high-performance solutions from its Bostik and Coating Solutions division, will form one of the most complete product portfolios in the
pressure-sensitive adhesives segment.
Ashland's Performance Adhesives business employs approximately 330 people and operates six production platforms, primarily in North America
.
The business has continued to grow in recent years and has significant growth potential
in Europe and Asia.
Combined with Arkema's global positioning, the excellent complementarity of technology, geography and business will enable Bostik to expand its product range and position itself as a key player
in high-performance industrial adhesives.
The proposed acquisition is fully in line with the Arkema's strategic goal of becoming a pure specialty materials producer by 2024 and will generate sales
of at least €10 billion.
