LANXESS has developed Bayferrox 303 T, a black pigment that extends the service life of
plastics.
This product reflects 20% more solar near-infrared radiation (NIR)
than conventional products.
Plastic roofs and facades colored with this pigment are not easily heated, which slows down the thermal decomposition of the polymer matrix and significantly extends the service life of plastic parts; The temperature difference between day and night of plastic parts is also greatly reduced, avoiding cracks and even bursts; At the same time, it can also reduce the internal temperature of the building, thereby reducing the energy consumption of air conditioning and saving energy
.
Stefano Bartolucci, Global Marketing Manager Plastics Business Unit Inorganic Pigments (IPG) at LANXESS, said: "The temperature of polymer matrices colored with Bayferrox 303 T can be up to 8°C
lower than with conventional pigments.
In addition to outdoor applications, the Bayferrox 303 T is also suitable for use in the automotive industry, for example for coloring
instrument panels exposed to solar radiation.
