SABIC's plants will be 100% renewable energy
Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has signed a major agreement to build its polycarbonate plant in Cartagena, Spain, into the world's first large-scale chemical production site
that runs entirely on renewable energy.
Under the agreement, Iberdrola will invest nearly 70 million euros to build a 100 MW solar photovoltaic plant
on SABIC-owned land.
With 263,000 panels, the plant will be fully operational
in 2024.
The partnership is 25 years long, marking another milestone in
SABIC's global journey to use cleaner energy in its operations.
SABIC plans to deploy wind or solar power facilities with a capacity of up to 4 GW to its global plants by 2025 and increase this number to 12 GW by 2030
