Brazil intends to regulate harmful substances in cosmetics
A few days ago, the Brazilian Health Agency (Anvisa) issued a resolution to effectively regulate and restrict
harmful substances in cosmetics with reference to Article 8 of Regulation GMC 51/108.
The substances regulated this time include lead acetate, hydroquinone, formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde.
Among them, lead acetate can be used in the preparation of antifouling coatings, water protection agents, pigment fillers, paint desiccants, fiber dyes and solvents
for heavy metal cyanification processes.
In addition, it can also be used as a dyeing aid in the fur industry
.
The resolution strictly regulates the use of lead acetate in hair dyeing products: when lead acetate is used in dyes, the maximum allowable concentration shall not exceed 0.
6% in terms of lead content; The purity of lead acetate used should be greater than 99%, and the water insoluble content should not exceed 0.
02%.
The resolution also contains detailed provisions on the conditions of use of lead acetate and warning labels, such as lead acetate should be kept out of the reach of children; Avoid contact with eyes; Do not use during pregnancy and wash after use
.
This resolution shall take effect
immediately from the date of its promulgation.
