Evonik has officially started production of its compounded film coating materials plant at the Marr site in Germany, which will be used in organic solvent-resistant nanofiltration membranes (OSN) and gas separation membranes
.
In the newly commissioned laminated film coating material plant, the separation membranes are coated with special silicones or other materials
.
This silicone coating manufactured by the company is a key factor
in determining the separation properties of the separation membrane.
"The commissioning of this laminated film coating material plant is in line with our growth plans
in the Separation Membranes business.
Matthias Kottenhahn, Head of the Performance Polymers business line at Evonik, says: "It directly provides our customers with advanced separation membrane technology to improve resource efficiency
in material separation processes.
" With
its investment in Mar, Evonik is preparing to continuously enrich its film portfolio
by developing high-quality new products.
The Group also plans to optimize and redesign
its proprietary production processes with film products.
The launch of the new factory for new products will also mark the official production
of the third generation of DuraMem and PuraMem® films.
The products produced at the plant are expected to hit the market in the
second half of this year.
