Norion recently launched Agrilan®1015, a versatile, biodegradable agricultural dispersant around the world that can replace less sustainable products
in aqueous systems and seed treatment formulations.
Conventional dispersions are currently under increasing scrutiny from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and other regulatory bodies for their environmental impact, and Agrilan®1015 is introduced to the market
as a sustainable upgrade to traditional dispersions.
Dispersants are essential auxiliaries in agrochemical formulations to help the active ingredient disperse
more easily in a given solution.
However, existing tristyrenephenol (TSP)-based products are not easily biodegradable and persist
in the environment.
"Our customers asked us to provide more sustainable dispersant solutions for their agrochemical formulations," said
Ignacio Garin, Vice President, Norion Pastoral Life Specialty Chemicals business line.
"The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has confirmed that TSP-based dispersions are not biodegradable in the environment and have a lasting impact on the environment, potentially requiring formulators to limit their use or even ban
them altogether.
"
Garin added that after the Agrilan®1015 was first launched in Asia, our local agrochemical customers evaluated the product and provided positive feedback, laying the foundation for
the product to launch globally.
