Honeywell introduces a new asphalt mixture modifier
Honeywell announced the launch of TitanTM, a new asphalt mixture modifier that helps road paving companies reduce energy consumption, save costs and reduce emissions
while meeting stringent road paving requirements.
Compared with the traditional process, adding a small amount of TitanTM asphalt mixture modifier can improve the flow properties of the asphalt mixture and reduce the temperature of the mixture during production and laying, thereby saving energy and reducing costs
for asphalt producers and road laying enterprises.
At the same time, the modifier meets the strict specifications of modified asphalt and road paving, which can greatly reduce ruts and improve the resistance of roads to water damage, thereby helping to extend road service life and reduce the amount of
road maintenance.
In a road test in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation, the unique properties of TitanTM asphalt mixture modifiers were fully demonstrated: paving fuel consumption was reduced by 13%, compaction times were reduced by 1/3, and paving time was reduced
accordingly without compromising road performance.
Peer-reviewed data showed that after TitanTM modified the asphalt, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and CO2 emissions during paving were reduced by 82%, 43%, 19% and 18%,
respectively.
Phil Wojcik, global head of specialty additives at Honeywell, said the TitanTM asphalt mix is based on the company's extensive technical experience in additives and other advanced materials to meet the requirements of
asphalt producers and road pavers to economically build more durable roads.
