With BASF's new polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) Ultrason®P 2010 nat, Japanese plastics manufacturer Taiwa has developed a range of dishes that are now increasingly used in Japanese primary and secondary schools
.
The dishes are manufactured using Daiwa's advanced molding technology and incorporate a special resin
with Ultrason®P 2010 nat as the main component.
Compared to porcelain tableware, these dishes are characterized by their light weight, non-brittle, free of harmful ingredients, and easy to clean
.
Due to their heat resistance and resistance to food ingredients such as grease and detergents, the dishes can be recycled and last longer
.
In addition, Ultrason®P 2010 nat offers higher flow during injection molding and good mechanical properties (excellent notched impact strength and stability) and high chemical resistance, withstands hot steam sterilization up to 134°C, and is inherently fire resistant
.
The transparent, high-performance thermoplastic has been approved for food contact
in the European Union and the United States.
