Recently, the team of Professor Chen Jun of the School of Chemistry of Nankai University designed and synthesized an organic cathode material for lithium-ion batteries with ultra-high capacity - cyclohexaphenone
.
The energy density of this material is as high as 1533Wh/kg, which is much higher than other organic cathode materials
reported in current research.
The researchers first invented a new method for dehydration reaction, which realized the synthesis
of cyclohexaxone materials by precisely controlling the temperature and pressure of the dehydration reaction.
In view of the short cycle life of cyclohexaxone, the team used an electrolyte based on ionic liquids, and after series optimization, it was found that the solubility of cyclohexaxone was reduced
by the large performance of ionic liquids.
This method improves the cycle life of cyclohexaphenone and lays a foundation
for further practical application of cyclohexaphenone.
Subsequently, the researchers also studied the charge-discharge reaction mechanism and electrochemical performance of cyclohexahexaxone materials in lithium-ion batteries, and the results showed that the discharge specific capacity of cyclohexahexanone could reach 902mAh/g, which is the highest known capacity of organic electrode materials
.
