Ascend Functional
Materials recently submitted a permit application to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to add 90,000 tons of adiponitrile (ADN) capacity
at its plant in Decatur, Alabama.
Ascend expects to receive licensing approval
by the end of the third quarter.
Ascend will begin purchasing key expansion equipment
at the end of the second quarter.
The company is also in intensive discussions to use a cogeneration unit in Decatur to support the expansion
