On May 24, Harbin Institute of Technology released news that the team of Professor Zhao Xuezeng and Associate Professor Pan Yunlu of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the university has made new progress
in using the selection of wetting functional materials to achieve oil-water separation and controllable drive of droplets.
The findings were published in
Advanced Functional Materials.
Pan Yunlu et al.
proposed an efficient method for preparing superhydrophobic superhydrophilic coatings, which can realize oil-water separation, water absorption and controlled transportation
of oil droplets.
At the same time, their proposed concrete-like structure greatly improves the mechanical strength
of the coating.
By constructing a special micro-nano composite structure, the research team broke through the limitations of traditional surface energy theory and prepared a super-wetting functional coating
that was completely oil-free but completely hydrophilic at the same time.
By coating this coating on the mesh substrate, the "oil and water barrier" type can be realized, which completely solves the problem of "water and oil barrier" filtration.
