Solvay has announced that it has signed a termination agreement with Eastman to acquire an additional 50% stake in Eastman's U.
S.
-based cellulose acetate joint venture to achieve a wholly owned stake in the plant, which will close
in the second quarter of 2016.
When the agreement goes into effect, Eastman has committed to continuing to provide Solvay's long-term supply of raw materials and infrastructure
through its Kingsport, Tennessee, U.
S.
facility.
Chemours recently announced that its new titanium dioxide production line at its Altamira plant in Tamaulipas, Mexico, has officially entered commercial operation

After the official production is carried out in May 2016, Ti-PureTM brand titanium dioxide pigments
will be produced by chlorination process.
When fully operational, its production capacity will reach 200,000 tons

Shell announced during the Asian Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) that its steam cracker project in Mao Hiroshima in Singapore will restart
in July.
The cracking furnace project has a production capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene and 590,000 tons
of propylene.
The project has been out of operation
since November 28, 2015 due to corrosion issues.
