Cabot's new additive helps lithium-ion batteries increase power and improve costs
Recently, Cabot announced the release
of two new LITXTM conductive agents for lithium-ion batteries, LITX200TM and LITX35TM.
Due to their high energy density and superior performance, lithium-ion batteries are becoming increasingly preferred
for many applications.
High-power, high-capacity lithium-ion batteries are increasingly used in electronics
, electric vehicles, grid control, and renewable energy.
According to industry research firm Avicenne, global sales of lithium-ion batteries are expected to exceed $18 billion
by 2020.
For electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as high-end consumer electronics and power tools, the battery's high power, high conductivity and fast charging are critical
to achieving the performance required by users.
At present, many battery developers use additives that only partially meet power requirements, but are inconvenient to use in the battery manufacturing process or may reduce the energy density
of batteries.
Cabot's LITX200TM additive can significantly improve conductivity under normal additive loading, and can increase the power of lithium-ion batteries without reducing energy density or increasing cost; At the same time, it is convenient
to use in the battery manufacturing process.
In addition, lithium-ion battery manufacturers need cost-intensive solutions to compete
in the mass market of consumer electronics.
At present, Chinese manufacturers mainly rely on high-cost imported conductive additives
.
To this end, Cabot has also introduced a new generation of LITX35TM conductive additives
.
The additive is mainly suitable for applications that have certain requirements for cycle life, such as basic mobile phones, notebook computers, etc
.
