Trinseo has launched a more sustainable MAGNUM acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin for automotive applications
.
During the polymerization process, fossil-based polymers are combined with renewable raw materials according to a mass balance process to produce MAGNUM BIO ABS resins
with up to 80% biological content according to the ISCC mass balance method.
Trinseo uses second-generation waste, such as waste kitchen oil and residues from the pulp industry, which does not compete with the food chain and meets sustainable food requirements
.
Since renewable raw materials have the same chemical composition as fossil raw materials during raw material cracking, no separation
is required during manufacturing.
It is reported that MAGNUM BIO ABS resin is the same structure and function as fossil materials, and can be used with existing tools and equipment under the same processing conditions without re-identification, achieving carbon dioxide reduction
.
As a single-use solution, MAGNUM BIO ABS resin does not need to be re-qualified, and the material will maintain the same properties and benefits, effectively improving the carbon footprint
.
