On May 7, Wacker is now applying its groundbreaking, environmentally friendly silicone production technology to its release coating products
.
WACKER's DEHESIVE?eco range uses 100 percent methanol based on renewable raw materials instead of petrochemical methanol, saving resources
.
Currently, WACKER is the only manufacturer
that can offer non-petrochemical silicone release agents to label and film coating manufacturers.
WACKER produces silicones from plant-based and petrochemical-based methanol and calculates the amount and proportion of non-petrochemical methanol in the respective product portfolio in a similar
way to the German green energy certification system.
The DEHESIVE@eco range is also produced according to this biomass balance method, which uses certified non-petrochemical methanol based on straw or grass clippings to replace petrochemical methanol
.
WACKER's biomass balance method is regularly recertified every year to ensure that its eco range is produced 100 percent from plant-based methanol
.
The first coating systems in the DEHESIVE@eco series include DEHESIVE@eco 902 AMA@Release Coating, CRA@eco 17 Peel Force Controller, WACKER@eco Vernetzer V 90 and WACKER@eco Katalysator C 05
。 The ECO series is formulated exactly as the corresponding standard release coating and has the same characteristics, so that no technical adjustments
to the coating process are required during use.
Dr.
Hans Lautenschlager of WACKER SILICONES in charge of the release coating business unit said that in the future, his eco range
will be gradually expanded according to the response and demand of the market.
DEHESIVE@eco not only strengthens the sustainability of WACKER's own product portfolio, but also benefits the release coating industry – because the use of non-petrochemical release agents not only helps to save valuable resources, but also contributes to the overall sustainability of release paper and film production
.
