New progress has been made in the material technology of wide temperature nickel-metal hydride batteries

Recently, the Jilin Province Science and Technology Development Plan project "Production and Application of Wide Temperature Hydrogen Storage Alloy and Power Ni-MH Battery" undertaken by the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has made new progress
    .

In 2018, with the funding of the key science and technology research and development project of Jilin Province, the scientific research team of Changchun Institute of Applied Chemical Research carried out key technology research on the industrialization of wide-temperature nickel-metal hydride battery materials, and after three years of efforts, developed three new types of rare earth hydrogen storage alloys and production technologies
    for wide-temperature nickel-metal hydride batteries: wide-temperature type, long-life type and high-capacity type.
Among them, the maximum rated capacity of high-capacity alloy is 350mAh/g, and the capacity of wide-temperature hydrogen storage alloy at -45 °C and 60 °C is divided into more than
    80% of the rated capacity.
In addition, by optimizing the nickel-metal hydride battery technology, researchers have further developed a variety of types of wide-temperature nickel-metal hydride battery production technology applied at wide temperature (-45 °C ~ 60 °C), the discharge capacity of wide temperature NiMH battery at -45 °C and 60 °C is more than 80% of the rated capacity, and the capacity retention rate of this type of battery at -40 °C 1C (C is the battery capacity) charge and discharge cycle 100 times is greater than 90%.

It is understood that the project has built a 100-ton hydrogen storage alloy and a large-scale production line with an annual output of 10 million Ah batteries, realizing the industrialization and application
of hydrogen storage alloy and wide temperature nickel-metal hydride battery.
During the research period of the project, 4 Chinese invention patents were applied for, and 3 local and group standards were formulated
