Air Products completes acquisition
of Shell coal gasification technology On May 7, Air Products announced the successful acquisition of the coal gasification technology patent licensing business
owned by Shell Global Solutions International, a division of Royal Dutch Shell Limited.
The acquisition includes a portfolio of patents related to Shell's solid (coal and biomass) gasification and a share of technical patent rights
for residue and biomass gasification.
Air Products also formed a strategic alliance with Shell to supply residual oil gasification technology
to refineries.

Air Products said the moves expanded Air Products' syngas supply business; Under the gas sales business model, the company will finance, build, own, operate and maintain gas production plants, allowing customers to focus their energy and capital on their main business
