November 20, 2020—Invista's polymer production base in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP) has completed the goal of expanding its annual production capacity of 40,000 tons of nylon 6,6 polymer
.
“The expansion of the polymer production base is part of INVISTA’s strategic investment to meet the strong demand for high-quality nylon products in China and the Asia-Pacific region,” said Fangfang Dou, business director of INVISTA’s Nylon Polymers Asia-Pacific region.
, In the next few years, China will become the largest consumer of nylon 6,6 in the world, and the growth areas are also very broad, such as the increase in demand for engineering plastics used in the automotive, electrical and engineering markets, especially for lightweight, powertrain into part optimization, electrification and automation
.
The expanded production line is INVISTA's fourth continuous polymerization production line in Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park.
The production base currently has a batch polymerization production line with an annual output of 30,000 tons and a continuous polymerization nylon 6,6 production line with an annual output of 160,000 tons.
.
Pete Brown, executive vice president of INVISTA's nylon polymer business, added: "This addition of polymer capacity is another key component of INVISTA's integrated nylon 6,6 chain in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
The chemical base also includes a hexamethylenediamine (HMD) production base with an annual output of 215,000 tons and an adiponitrile (ADN) production base with an annual output of 400,000 tons currently under construction
