According to the "World Energy Outlook 2022" report recently released by the International Energy Agency, as more and more countries begin to accelerate their energy transition, the global clean energy industry has entered a period of rapid development, and renewable energy power generation is expected to increase by 20%
in 2022.
Thanks to the growth of clean energy generation such as wind and solar energy, the growth rate of global carbon dioxide emissions this year is expected to fall from 4% in 2021 to 1%.
The report also pointed out that although the current energy crisis in many countries has increased the demand for fossil fuels in the short term, in the long run, new energy, especially clean energy, is still the key
to solving human energy problems.
Global energy demand is expected to grow by about 1% annually between now and 2030, with almost all of the increase being filled
by renewables.
The share of fossil energy in the global energy mix may decline from the current 80% to 75% in 2030 and about
60% by 2050.
At present, more and more countries and regions have formulated renewable energy development goals and plans to accelerate the energy transition
.
According to the French government's plan, the proportion of renewable energy generation in France will increase to 40% by 2030; By 2050, France's installed solar power capacity will increase tenfold and 50 offshore wind farms
will be built.
Japan's latest energy basic plan proposes that the share of renewable energy in electricity generation will increase to 36% to 38%
by 2030.
Egypt's 2035 Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy proposes to have an installed capacity of 43 GW
of photovoltaic power generation by 2035.
The report predicts that in the next five years, the installed capacity of renewable energy in Europe is expected to double the previous five-year increment, and China's increase will account for nearly half of
the global increase.
"Governments have actively promoted the implementation of renewable energy policy planning, accelerating structural changes
in the energy economy.
" Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency, said
.
In addition, the supply chain for some key equipment and technologies, including batteries, solar photovoltaics and electrolyzers, is expanding rapidly, accelerating the development of renewable energy
.
Solar panel prices have fallen by 80% in the last 10 years and have become an affordable power generation technology, providing more than 3% of global electricity generation in 2021
.
The International Energy Agency expects the global installed capacity to reach 650 GW of new PV capacity by 2030
.
The booming clean energy industry will bring a lot of jobs and boost economic growth
.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency's report Renewable Energy and Jobs: A Year in Review 2022, renewable energy-related jobs worldwide reached 12.
7 million in 2021, an increase of 700,000
in one year.
By 2030, annual global investment in clean energy is expected to exceed $2 trillion, an increase of more than 50% compared to today, and is expected to create more jobs and investment opportunities
.
Fatih Birol called on countries to adopt stronger policies to invest more in renewable energy and aim to achieve net-zero global CO2 emissions by 2050
.
"The world is currently at a critical stage in the energy transition, and the responses taken by countries will open a new chapter
in a cleaner, more affordable and safer global energy industry," he said.
