Indonesian Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif said recently that Indonesia's coal production capacity is expected to reach 663 million tons in 2022, an increase of 8%
compared with 614 million tons in 2021.

At the same time, the minister also revealed that coal capacity in 2021 is below the planned target of 625 million tons
    .

Minister Arifin Tasri has previously revealed that coal capacity in 2021 will be lower than expected
    due to bad weather.

In the second half of 2021, production reached 614 million tonnes in 2021 as persistent rains slowed mine and port operations in Indonesia, which is 2.
    4%
below the ministry's target of 625 million tonnes.

"Our (output) realization is slightly lower because of the weather at the mines, the rainfall is quite high," said
Sujatmiko, director of the Department of Energy's Coal Department.

Global coal prices have surged to record highs this year due to a recovery in demand for industrial fuels and production constraints in China
    , the largest coal consumer.
Heavy rains have also hampered Indonesia's hopes
of boosting production and exports for higher incomes.
