Indonesian government said in recent days that officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued a one-year copper concentrate export licence proposal
to mining companies PT Freeport Indonesia and PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
Yunus Saifulhak, head of minerals at Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mining, said PT Freeport Indonesia received subsidies for 198,282 (wet) tonnes of copper concentrate, while Amman received 336,100 (wet) tonnes
.
Indonesia's Ministry of Trade will issue an export license
based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Mines.
Last year, Freeport Indonesia received export permits
from the government totaling 1.
25 million tonnes of copper concentrate.
During the same period, Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara received an export quota
of 450,826 tonnes.
In 2018, the Indonesian government acquired a 51 percent stake in the Freeport project, which said it expected copper concentrate exports to fall sharply as the Grasberg copper project shifted from open-pit mining to underground mining
.
Saifulhak added that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued a nickel ore export quota
of 2.
7 million wet tons/year to state miner PT Aneka Tambang (Antam).
The number of quotas is similar
to last year.
