According to the Mjunction interim compilation, the country imported 116 million tonnes of coal
between April and September of fiscal year 2018-19, based on monitoring of vessel locations and data received from shipping lines.
Commenting on coal import trends, Vinaya Varma, managing director and CEO of Mjunction, said: "Despite negative growth in domestic coal production in recent months, the late monsoon period affected demand from power and other consumer industries, resulting in weak demand for thermal power imports
